Our Philosophy

According to ancient Chinese legend, the koi represents courage, perseverance, strength, and achievement. It was said that any koi that succeeded in bravely climbing the falls at Dragon Gate on the Yellow River would be transformed into a dragon.

Similarly, Koi Fitness approaches health and fitness as an opportunity for the same type of transformation in the form of personal growth and
improved quality of life. Our program is centered on helping each member develop
self-confidence, strength, endurance, and continually achieve new levels of
fitness though exercise and proper nutrition.

Overview
The Koi Fitness Program contains several components that separate us from the typical outdoor exercise class.

Assessments
At the beginning and end of each session, you complete a personal fitness assessment. This assists us in placing you in the group that is appropriate for your abilities as well as setting a benchmark for you to measure results. The assessment includes standard fitness tests as well as body measurements so you can tell how far you have progressed at the end of each session.

Workouts
Workouts are unique and are generally comprised of warm-ups, pull-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, squats, lunges, intermittent running, resistance training, agility exercises, and more. One hour a day, four days a week for only six weeks, you will focus on various fitness areas such as flexibility, core strength, power, endurance, balance, speed, and agility. The workouts progressively increase in volume over each six week session to keep pushing your fitness level to new heights and your body fat percentage to new lows.

Nutrition
Eating right is an integral part of our program and one of the ways we offer more than other outdoor boot camp fitness programs. Check out our nutrition page for more information.

Our instructors come from many different disciplines and each of them bring a unique element to the program. Check out their bios.

Locations
Workouts take place in the best gym around - the great outdoors. You will be surprised how motivating, exciting and different it can be to take it outside for a change. We offer outdoor exercise classes in several San Francisco Bay Area locations at convenient times so there is always an option to fit your busy schedule.

Attitude
Our approach to fitness is designed to get you involved and make you accountable for your life. Trainers are there to assist you in accomplishing your goals, not yell at you for missing them. It is important for you to be in a group of people who have similar abilities with a trainer who knows how to motivate you in a safe, fun and challenging environment.
