Boot camp, personal & corporate trainer

A native of Seattle, Washington, Sam has been a runner and an athlete his entire life.

He competed in Cross Country and Track & Field in high school and was the state champion of the Washington State High School Cross Country meet in 2004. Sam attended Washington State University, where he was team captain and two-time national qualifier on the Cross Country team, as well as a three-time PAC-10 scorer in the steeplechase. He was also the 17th fastest national Steeplechaser in 2009.

He was a volunteer Assistant Distance Coach at WSU in 2005 and the Assistant Distance Coach at UC Davis in 2011. He then served as Collegiate Distance Coach San Francisco State University in 2012.

I love to share my love of distance running with all those who feel drawn to the greatest sport on this planet.

Motivation

His philosophy as a person and a coach explains why he loves being a trainer. He believes life is made up of continuous challenges and intimidating starting lines. He loves creating a fun environment for each of his clients and athletes, where they can find their ‘win’ every time they workout.

He works with Koi because he is proud to be a part of this incredible group of athletes – a great group of people with whom “you want to sweat, breath hard and work your butt off.”

I’ve seen athletes improve not only in their distance running, but also, their strength for daily functional movement. It’s fun when someone comes back to class and tells me the work they’re doing is paying off.

Sam graduated from Washington State University, with an emphasis in Sports Management.
