Frequently asked questions

WHY IS KOI FITNESS "THE BETTER BOOT CAMP?"

Simply put, the quality of our program is better than similar bootcamps in the Bay Area. We've been around longer than most of them, and it shows in the loyalty of our member community. Koi Fitness only employs high-caliber trainers that hold the highest levels of education, certification, and experience in the field. Each trainer has gone through an intensive training period and undergoes frequent monitoring to ensure that the best service is being provided to each member.

Not only do we deliver top-notch workouts in the most scenic areas throughout the Bay Area, but we also provide thorough fitness assessments (when requested) and personalized training so that each member achieves results and minimizes the potential for injury. We've also created a strong community of members that not only support each other, but also enjoy socializing together.

CAN I GO TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND TIMES FOR MORE BOOT CAMPS?

We want to help you achieve your fitness goals and establishing consistency in your workout schedule is essential. We prefer that you stick with one class time and location throughout a session, but we're willing to work with you if you need some flexibility.

We also offer personal training which is often the best solution for people with hectic schedules.

HOW MANY PARTICIPANTS ARE THERE DURING EACH BOOT CAMP SESSION?
HOW DO I KNOW AT WHICH LEVEL TO START?

At the beginning and end of each session, we assess each individual’s fitness level. We then place members in training groups with peers who are at similar fitness levels. Each group is designed to give you the most effective workout possible while providing a safe and supportive environment. Our training group sizes vary from 4 to 12 members, and our trainers are skilled in effectively training different group sizes as necessary.

DO I NEED TO BE IN SHAPE OR AT A CERTAIN FITNESS LEVEL BEFORE I SIGN UP FOR BOOT CAMP?

Nope — that’s the whole reason we are here. We want to help you get into better shape and improve your overall fitness. We train individuals at all levels of fitness. We have worked with rock climbers, triathletes, weekend warriors, and people who have never worn a pair of running shoes in their life. The ages range from 18 to over 50.

I AM ALREADY IN SHAPE. WILL I GET ANYTHING OUT OF YOUR BOOT CAMP PROGRAM?

Yes. Since we have multiple groups training at different levels during each class, we train individuals at all levels of fitness. Many of our members find that the cross-training aspect of our program improves their performance in other sports or activities. Our trainers will help you to achieve maximum results.

HOW MUCH RUNNING IS INVOLVED IN YOUR BOOT CAMP?

The amount of running you do is determined by your current fitness level, which class you choose, and your personal goals. Through our fitness assessments, we place you in training groups with people at your level of fitness. Our 6am Music Concourse class offers a non-running training group. Our HIIT and Kettlebell classes are also lighter on running. Inquire to see how much running takes place on each day/time slot.

HOW LONG ARE THE BOOT CAMP SESSIONS?

Each class lasts one hour, which includes a warm up, workout, cool down, and stretching. At certain times of the year, we offer a special session called Extreme Week in which the classes are also 60 minutes long.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR AND BRING TO BOOT CAMP?

Wear comfortable workout attire such as a long-sleeve t-shirt, gym pants, and a light jacket along with sturdy and supportive running shoes or cross-trainers. We will be doing sit-ups and push-ups on pavement, dirt, and grass so keep in mind that you will get dirty. During the colder winter months, it’s good to bring a hat and/or gloves. We also strongly recommend wearing headlamps when it’s dark out.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN IT RAINS?

We workout rain or shine and will utilize covered areas as much as possible. Our trainers are experienced in working out during inclement weather, and we will not compromise your safety. We recommend that you wear a light, water-proof jacket and a baseball cap to keep the water out of your eyes. Some of our members keep an extra change of clothes in their cars to change in to after the workout. In the rare occasion that we must cancel a class, we will make an announcement via Instagram and Facebook.
